Bathroom Cleaning Guide – Scrub the Spots & Scums
A bathroom without spots and stench is good for health and it also reflects your state of mind and style of living. Cleaning bathroom is a tedious task for all of us for it takes a lot of time and hard work. We often prefer to clean bedroom, guest room and other rooms than the bathroom. The soap scums and spots covering the faucets, sinks, and floors make the bathroom slick and stenched. To get rid of them, a variety of can be used.
Since our day starts after spending first few minutes in bathroom, we must keep our bathroom clean and fresh. Here are some very useful and proved bathroom cleaning tips that one can use with ease to get out of these problems.
Toilets
Ring around toilets are a common problem and they occur due to the alkaline deposits. One to two cups of white vinegar, once in a month can eliminate this problem.
Cut off the water supply to the toilet and remove the water from the surface. Wet a couple of heavy duty paper towels with orange citrus cleaner or white vinegar. Cover all the areas with it. Leave the towels damp for several hours or even overnight till the spots get dissolved. Then use a nylon brush or to scrub. If the white vinegar is not enough use a pumice stone and a stiff toothbrush to scrub the deposits.
Sinks
Pour one cup of baking soda or salt into your sink followed by a cup of white vinegar. Leave it for an hour and then flush it with hot water. The combination of hot water with salt unblock the pipes and removes most of the buildup. You can apply the same for kitchen, tub and shower sinks.
Tubs and Shower Stalls
Spots on the shower walls and glass doors appear due to the alkaline deposits in the water. Applying car wax can help removing these stains. Glass and fiberglass both are porous, and car wax seals these pores that makes cleaning easier and keep the water spots away. However don’t use it on the floor as it gets slick. Twice in a year will be enough and keep stains away.
The soap scum has been an age old problem in the bathroom. The prime culprit behind it is the talc found in most bar soaps. Switching to liquid soaps or natural soaps can solve this issue. Besides you need to clean the shower once in a week.
Use orange citrus based cleaner once in a week to clean the showers. Just spray it and wait for a few minutes before the dirt dissolves. No need to scrub abruptly. Even if the soap scum remains then orange based concentrated cleaner can help. Pour it in a bowl and using an old dishrag apply it on the walls and doors. Boiling hot white vinegar can come handy too. However it takes time to dissolve the buildup.
After the buildup is dissolved, use a white bristle pad to scrub. The colored scrubber are coarser and might scratch the surface. Dampen the pad and gently rub the surface. Doing this will remove the dissolved buildup and mineral deposits from the glass doors.
Faucets
Deposits often buildup around faucets and that feels irritating when we use them. To get rid of these deposits, place a paper towel wet in white vinegar around the sink. Plug the drain and pour half a cup of white vinegar in the sink. Wait for a while as it takes time to dissolve the deposits. Scrub using a nylon toothbrush.

Bathroom Solutions – Four Ways to Add Storage With Style
about 2 months ago - No comments
Any bathroom, large or small, can be short on storage space and with the need to store towels, toiletries, cosmetics, and beauty supplies, there are few other spaces in the house that are so demanding of adequate storage. Any old storage just won’t do; bathroom storage must be practical and user-friendly. Believe it or not, it is possible to add additional storage space to the bathroom without knocking down walls or building an addition, and it’s possible to do it with style.
Bathrooms typically have sink vanities with storage below that may consist of one open section of cabinetry under the sink and three drawers to the side and a medicine cabinet on the wall over the sink for pharmacy items, toothbrushes and small toiletries. Obviously, this is not enough storage space for the average family or even average couple. If the bathroom or adjacent hallway does not have a built-in or freestanding linen closet, towels and linens typically end up in a bedroom closet, making that space even more cluttered than necessary.
1. If the bathroom is large enough to accommodate some type of linen cabinetry or tall freestanding unit, that is a purchase well worth the investment. Look beyond typical bathroom cabinetry and consider an antique hutch with a glass front. The interior shelves will provide lots of space for folded towels and necessities that can be discreetly tucked away in baskets. Even an antique server or buffet offers quite of bit of storagespace; hang a vintage mirror and wall sconces above for a stylish look that will provide vanity space as well.
2. Options for smaller spaces include units that fit around and above the toilet and narrow free standing shelves that can be tucked in wherever space allows. To make open shelves more visually appealing, purchase wrought iron wall decor that will span the width and height of a freestanding shelf unit (or use two pieces of wrought iron mounted one above the other). The open scrollwork behind the unit will add style and practicality, since items set on the shelf won’t be continually falling off the back side. Let this practical solution inspire you; decorate bare wall space with complimentary wrought iron wall decor or metal wall art.
3. If floor space is at a premium, install wall shelves on any open expanse of wall going as high as the ceiling and practicality allows. Seldom used items can be tucked on the upper shelves and items that you wish to keep under wraps can be discreetly tucked into lidded wicker baskets or bargain storage boxes wrapped in fabric. Choose a colorful patterned fabric or coordinate several to give the boxes a custom look. Wrought iron or carved wooden brackets will make simple shelving more stylish and in keeping with whatever decorative scheme you wish to create. Scatter a few decorative accessories – such as candles, crystal perfume bottles, glass vases, a ceramic ring dish or figurines – to make the wall shelve arrangement as pretty as it is practical.
4. Hanging baskets that are typically used for kitchen produce can be used in the bathroom for wash clothes, face towels and other small items. Line the baskets with fabric to protect delicate contents or provide a little privacy.

How To Choose A Great Bathroom
about 2 months ago - No comments
Thinking over a bathroom remodeling we come to a conclusion that in the first place it should be fashionable and lovely, comfortable and practical in use. Newly refurbished bathroom, bathroom fixtures, bathrooms accessories, bathroom furniture must not deteriorated because of the moisture and vapor, which are being indispensable components of this premise. In other words the newly renovated bathroom environment should be at the same time beautiful and comfy, and materials – durable.
Starting bathroom installation, try to decide at the very beginning, what would you like to eventually obtain. What are you most interested in: sanitary appliances or entourage? What concerns the latter, the very style of a bathroom might be splendid and grand, in the spirit of the times of “king the sun” Louis XIV, as well as daintily intimate, matching the famous ancient Rome baths’ decor. All depends on your taste and on the outlook of your inmates.
Nowadays the abundant market gives you in fact the unlimited freedom of choice while creating a bathroom design. The only things that will restrain your fantasy are the sense of moderation, financial abilities and dimensions of the bathroom.
Planning.
The choice of a place for a bathroom and its internal planning are usually determined by certain rules and logic. In many homes today you more often see two or three bathrooms, which all depends on the number of rooms and inhabitants. Of course the most optimal option is the presence of several washrooms. In this case you would not waste your time by sitting in the mornings and evenings and waiting while your inmates have had splashed in bounty. If the planning or the size of the dwelling does not allow to install several bathrooms or its separate elements, then it’s necessary to try to arrange so, that the only bathroom in house is connected to all zones: the kitchen, the bedroom, the living room. This way you won’t experience any discomfort, in case any guests stay with you. In most hard instances there’s a possibility to install two or three doors in the only bathroom, e. g. into the living room and the bedroom.
A great variety of finishing materials – tiles, fluid glass, marble, wood, terracotta and much else, and really enormous choice of bathroom fixtures and accessories give wide designing possibilities and allow to install bathroom renovating the space and creating actually comfortable bathroom. The only aspect that must be followed while creating a new bathroom design, is a style concept of the whole apartment, or in any case of the zone where the washroom is situated. But if contrasting changes and bright “flares” of color are to your liking, there can be no limits.
Color.
While planning a bathroom interior one of the starting points would be the range of colors, for it is intended for creation of a spirit and also for visual diminishing or enlarging of the room space. For instance, if you wish to widen it, paint the opposite wall by a light color with a hue of grey – and the wall will step back visually. Same “trick” may be applied to the ceiling and wood panels. You can diminish, enlarge or “cut” the bathroom space with the help of a border laid in a certain direction, from tiles of bright and contrasting colors.
If the bathroom space is not too big, it’s worthwhile using light unsaturated colors – this will add openness and air to the room. Bathroom walls decoration of different colors will visually diminish a big bathroom space, making it more cozy. Deep bright colors, such as beige, pink, scarlet, lemon, copper or mahogany tint, will ideally suit for creating a still island for relaxing in a quiet surrounding. Ivory, peach, silvery, sky-blue and all colors and hues of an early morning, loaded with freshness and light will fill the bathroom with joy of a new day start.

Easy Guide To Real Estate Financing
about 2 months ago - No comments
Besides the fact that it’s probably the average person’s largest financial transaction, buying or selling a home is one of those areas where mistrust and misconceptions are sure to be present. You can begin your real estate financing education by asking friends, family, co-workers, real estate agents, real estate brokers, mortgage brokers and real estate professionals for help, search online for local lenders and get current interest rate quotes. Now before you apply for any real estate financing, if you have a lot of bad credit because of consumer debt like credit cards or personal loans, you’ll want to try to eliminate or reduce this debt since it may affect your ability to qualify for a commercial or home mortgage and make the estimated monthly payment.
Keep in mind when you’re getting financing or refinancing that most people move or refinance within seven years. An adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) means that the interest rate changes over the life of the loan, according to the terms that are specified ahead of time. If you’re working with a local builder within a sub-division or housing development and just making carpeting, lighting and appliance selections for a brand new home, you’ll probably be able to get a standard mortgage loan. But if you’re hiring contractors, electricians, plumbers, and painters, you’ll probably need a construction loan, which provides funds to pay the subcontractors as the work progresses.
Twenty-year fixed-rate mortgages allow you to make a consistent higher monthly payment throughout all of the 20 years you have the mortgage. The shorter term means you pay the loan off quicker and therefore pay less interest and build your equity faster than with a 30-year loan. The disadvantages of a fixed-rate mortgage include a possibly higher cost; these loans are usually priced higher than an adjustable-rate mortgage.
Your property taxes may be deductible so make sure to consult with your CPA or other tax advisor for the current tax information. Insiders know that the advertised mortgage rates are not always what you’ll get from the lender; it could be market fluctuations, economic news, any other of a dozen reasons, but interest rates can change throughout the day. If you’re having a problem getting a loan or home mortgage you might consider a lease-option on a property; a lease-option on the real property will allow you to set a good purchase price now, then apply a portion of the rent each month toward your down payment, building your equity in the process.
Work diligently with your mortgage broker or lender to develop an individual loan or mortgage program based on your credit worthiness. 15-year mortgages are an ideal option if you can handle the higher payments and if you’d like to have the loan paid off in a shorter period of time, for example, if you have plans to retire. There are plenty of options that are ideal for those people who have a few bad credit indications on their credit report.
The interest rate for an adjustable rate mortgage may be adjusted up or down at predetermined times which will make the monthly payment increase or decrease. If rates in the current market are high, you’ll probably get a better price with an adjustable-rate loan. Interest rates can go up if a rosy picture is painted indicating the economy is flourishing, for example more jobs being available; this can lead to inflation which will send the rates up.
If you’re a first-time home-buyer it’s possible that you may qualify for a lower down payment or a lower interest rate. You might want to check with mortgage brokers, online mortgage companies, your county housing department or your employer to see if they know of any programs available. A fixed-rate mortgage means the interest rate and principal payments remain the same for life of the loan but the taxes will probably change.
Make sure to get lots of advice about real estate financing, mortgages, interest rates, mortgage rates, mortgage refinance, bad credit mortgages, etc., and think about what makes sense to you. Thinking positive about real estate financing is important and so is being realistic. It is always good to know the truth about advertised current mortgage rates when you need real estate financing.

Never Give A Stain A Break!
about 2 months ago - No comments
Imagine that you’ve just spilled something on your clothes or carpet. Well, there’s no need to panic. That’s because most ordinary stains on clothing, carpet, and tile can be removed without much sweat, using items that most homeowners keep in stock.
Clothing Stains: What To Do About Them
Antiperspirants perhaps cause the most common stains on white T-shirts, dress shirts, and blouses. For washable white clothing, pour boiling water over the stain, and then treat the stain with a solution of one-third water, one-third hydrogen peroxide, and one-third baking soda. Next wash as normal, adding bleach to your wash load. As an alternative, try sponging the spot with ammonia. Very important: Never mix bleach and ammonia.
Tea and coffee are another typical source of stains on clothing. If the stain is still fresh, try blotting it with a rag or paper towel soaked in cold water. If you find that some of the stain is still left, spot clean it with a mixture of one pint of warm water and one ounce of borax. After that, wash with detergent.
If you have a really bad stain on a garment made out of tough fabric, use a large bowl or pan to stretch the fabric over. Then pour boiling water from a height of two feet on the stain. (Only do this if there are no children nearby.)
Very important: Don’t use this procedure if the stain is anything but coffee and tea. That is because hot water can set many stains, such as blood stains. The result will be a ruined garment.
What happens if you scorch a skirt or a dress when you iron it? Well, it all depends on the severity of the scorch. If the scorch isn’t too severe, you might be able to eliminate the scorch mark. Here is a procedure that has been successful for many people: Prepare a solution by mixing one ounce of borax per every pint of cold water. Next, soak the scorched garment in this mixture. Finally, launder the garment as normal.
Handling Carpet Stains
Frequently people walk on carpet with dirty feet or spill food or drink on carpet. How should you treat the carpet? If you have modern, stain resistant carpet, cold water alone should remove most fresh stains. But you need to act quickly.
If cold water by itself doesn’t eradicate the stain, use a solution composed of two cups of lukewarm water, one teaspoon of liquid detergent, and one teaspoon of white vinegar. This mixture is safe on most carpets. However, to be sure, first spot test it in a not easily seen part of the carpet.
on carpet is a bit harder, especially if the blood has dried. Sprinkle salt on the stain, and then spray it with a solution of one-half water and one-half hydrogen peroxide. Next, blot with facial tissue, paper towels, or a rag. Spot test the solution first, especially if your carpet is a dark color.
Tile Stains
Chlorine bleach works well in getting stains off of tile floors. Mix a solution of one cup of bleach per gallon of water. (Make certain to wear rubber gloves.) If this does not work, try ammonia or white vinegar.

What Is A Bathroom Made Up Of
about 2 months ago - No comments
Now you may think you easily know what a bathroom is, but it is actually a fair bit more complicated than you probably think. Well the most literal definition is a room with a bath in it but these days that doesn’t cut it. Because of modern day showers replacing baths, the definition is now more along the lines a room where one bathes.
So by that definition, a tiny room with just a shower is the same as a room with a bath, a shower, a toilet and 2 sinks. Now we both know that just isn’t true so obviously the definition needs to be a little more detailed. That’s where full baths, 3/4 baths and 1/2 baths come in. A full bath contains a bathtub, a shower, a toilet and a sink. A 3/4 bath only has a shower along with a toilet and sink, although sometimes that is called a full bath (confusing enough yet?). And a 1/2 bath is just a toilet and sink.
Ok, with all that out of the way, we can have a look at the fittings themselves. We will start with the sink, one of the fittings which are in pretty much all bathrooms. A sink is bowl shaped fixture that you use to wash your hands or small objects. They nearly all have taps which let out water, both hot and cold, and a drain to take away water too. They also tend to have a strainer (plug) and an overflow prevention device.
Now for the toilet, something that these days is considered a necessity. They are bowl shaped like a sink, but much bigger and usually lower down, and basically easier to sit on. They use a water flushing mechanism to keep them reasonably clean.
The biggest fitting in a bathroom is usually the bath. Long enough for you to lie in, you fill it up with water and then simply bathe in it. Like sinks, they have the general taps (hot and cold), a drain, a plug and an overflow. More expensive baths can also be jacuzzis.
And the last one on our list is the shower, because it’s much quicker and easier to use, it replaces the bath in many people’s homes. It is basically a big tap over your head that sprinkles water all over you. The excess water is then drained away by a shower basin, a bath or even a hole in the floor.
